  • Smoke

  • Smoking while pregnant can cause your baby to be born with a low weight. The condition is not good for babies because it can increase the risk of your baby's health problems, such as infections and growth and development problems. The abstinence of this pregnant woman also needs to be applied to husbands who smoke. The husband must keep cigarette smoke away from pregnant wives, including cigarette smoke that clings to the clothes.
  • Drinking alcohol

  • Consuming alcoholic drinks while pregnant can make babies born with fetal alcohol syndrome. Signs can be low weight at birth, impaired behavior, learning disabilities, and growth and development barriers. If before you become pregnant you are a fan of alcoholic beverages, it is advisable to stop the habit while pregnant, especially at the age of the first trimester. Milk that does not go through the pasteurization process has the risk of containing Listeria bacteria which can cause miscarriage or serious illness.
  • Sauna or hot bath

  • Research shows that the risk of miscarriage and birth defects can be doubled, if you take a sauna or soak in hot water for too long. To reduce this risk, it is recommended to limit bathing time to less than 15 minutes.
  • Overweight

  • Pregnant women are indeed two-bodied, but that does not mean the portion of food needs to double. Being overweight during pregnancy can increase the risk of rising blood pressure, suffering from diabetes in pregnancy (gestational diabetes), and increasing the risk of obesity in later children. As a rule of thumb, in the second trimester, pregnant women need to add 340 calories per day, compared to the portion of food before pregnancy. Whereas in the third trimester, pregnant women need to add 450 calories per day.
  • Lack of sleep

  • When pregnant, not a few women who experience insomnia, especially in the third trimester of pregnancy. If left unchecked, lack of sleep will adversely affect pregnancy. Research shows that insomnia or insomnia during pregnancy is closely related to an increased risk of developing hypertension and diabetes in pregnancy, preeclampsia, and postpartum depression. Excessive consumption of caffeine can increase the chance of miscarriage or low birth weight babies.

  • Cat litter is a habitat for the parasite Toxoplasma gondii which is dangerous for pregnant women. Symptoms of a parasitic infection may not be felt and recognized at first, but pregnant women may miscarry or give birth to a baby born dead. In addition, if the baby can still be born safely, this parasitic infection can make the baby experience seizures or suffer mental disorders. Therefore, pregnant women are advised to avoid pets. Ask your husband or other family members to take care of your beloved cat for a while.
